HCP supplies 1400 linear metres of perimeter heating to T2 Dublin airport

10th November 2011

HCP, a division of SAS International, has supplied a range of perimeter heating and air handling grilles to the new Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport, Ireland.

Over 1,400 metres of floor mounted straight and curved perimeter heaters with  double heating elements were installed. Encased in brushed stainless steel metal casings the finish followed a horizontal direction to answer aesthetic requirements.

HCP was closely involved with the design and manufacture of these systems providing Mercury Engineering, Dublin with a mock up of units in advance.

Flat top and sloping top grilles with 20 degree angles, which helps prevent the surface being used for discarded rubbish, were used and installed in throughout the terminal.

The manufacturer designed solutions with additional straps incorporating a shelf along the panels to take the weight of the grille, should it be used as a seat, thus answering demands to provide a robust solution for this high traffic area.

Perimeter Heating systems provide continuous heating along walls and walkways and can be used to combat cold down draughts and condensation often found at glazed elevations. Three hundred metres of heaters were installed at height on a transom on the front glass facade of the airport which helps offset the heat loss / transfer from the glazing.

These solutions are suitable for use in the commercial, education and transport sectors helping to create a comfortable interior environment.

Design and adaptability are fundamental to the HCP philosophy of customer commitment. Whatever space restriction or output requirement HCP can design a system to suit needs. Should an installation require a special unit to be made, HCP can design and manufacture a prototype unit in advance in order that the system can be tested to ensure maximum satisfaction.
