SAS International cuts turf at Maybole site

2nd August 2011

The UK’s largest manufacturer of metal ceilings and associated interior fit-out solutions, SAS International, has started construction work at its manufacturing site in Maybole, Ayrshire. The 7,500 m2 expansion is set to complete at the end of 2011.

SAS International has invested in the Maybole community for the last 25 years. This expansion not only secures existing jobs at the site but also further recruitment is expected once the site is fully operational.

Andrew Jackson of SAS International comments: “It’s great to get work underway on the new extension. We believe investment in operational facilities and skilled labour and in the UK is key to ensure both manufacturing and our UK economy stay strong.”

In contrast to recent reports about a downturn in UK manufacturing SAS International recently announced record pre tax profits for the year end 2010 which saw record export sales up 127%. The Maybole facility is one of the company’s key sites that manufactures Architectural Metalwork solutions designed for projects Worldwide from Australia and Middle East through to Europe.

The new extension adds capacity to production of SAS International’s range of Architectural Metalwork products and allows further investment in new equipment and processes, to help fulfil orders in both the UK and overseas.
