Sharing thinking is a way forward for green building

23rd August 2011

Emirates Green Building Council (Emirates GBC) has recently expanded its education programme to facilitate customised seminars and workshops for corporate organisations to drive sustainable practices within their projects and operations.

As part of the new initiative, Emirates GBC facilitated two key seminars including a focus on LEED® Training: Green Building Core Concepts and an Energy Saving Seminar.

“Active engagement within the whole supply chain is critical,” comments Andrew Jackson, Director at SAS International. “And sharing ideas and best practice is important, and something that we very much support.  It is also very important if the decision that a unified building code is to be adopted by all GCC member countries.”

“We would concur with Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) vice co-chairman and Arup associate director Jeff Willis who has suggested it would possible and beneficial to use the same building codes throughout the GCC and with countries such as Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan implementing their own green building rating systems.”
